SILVIA AND MIRO
- we are the founders and thanks to many years of experience in the field of biotechnology we embody the driving force behind the company. After successfully completing our education at the Slovak Technical University in Bratislava specialising in fermentation and enzymatic hydrolysis, we decided to move abroad and enrich our knowledge. We chose Trieste, an italian city reknewed as an important research centre. We owe a lot to this multiethnic and multicultural city, which has made us grow professionally and personally. After years of exciting work in various Italian research institutions, we returned to our homeland to take a decisive step in our professional lives.
Our adventure in the field of natural cosmetics began about 11 years ago. Inspired by tradition and following purely artisanal procedures, Gaia Balsamica was born as a range of simple and genuine cosmetic products using our own oil herbal extracts.
NEW CHALLENGES
As time went by, cosmetics in this artisanal form did not represent us completely, since they lacked some our professional imprint. Our skills in biotechnology and biochemistry moved us towards advanced production methods, which allowed us to reach the latest trends in cosmetics. In 2019, we started intensive studies to develop new ingredients through biotechnological processes with the aim of making our future products more functional. A range of innovative, highly active and bioavailable phytocomplexes called FERMELYSE emerged in our laboratories via two bioprocesses. An enzymatic hydrolysis of plants and algae is followed by fermentation with probiotic and beneficial microorganisms to produce whole new ingredients (currently patent pending).
BRAND CREATION
The use of its own fermented extracts gave birth to the new skincare line with a targeted formulation of products to best meet the needs of the skin.
In 2021, we created Silvia Stredan, a unique, microbiome-friendly cosmetic brand based on
its own next-generation fermented ingredients.
TRADE MARK REGISTRATION
Silvia Stredan is a brand in full harmony with our personal and professional values that has embraced the philosophy of minimalist skincare, thus confirming full respect for people, nature, the environment and knowledge.
To protect all that Silvia Stredan stands for, in 2023 we applied for and obtained a registered trademark status.

All this would not be possible without the support of our sons Matus and Adam, the chemist and the pharmacist. Although the boys have continued their personal and professional development abroad, they continue to actively participate in the company's activitie because of Gaia Balsamica (tradition) and Silvia Stredan (innovation) are both our creations with which we express our values.
